Thank goodness Lissa came to the Blue Gum today, us others were a slack lot for Show and Tell.
It's been a while since we've seen Lissa but she certainly gave us a great Show and Tell last Saturday... It was Lissa's day that's for sure.
First off the rank is this Civil War Quilt... all finished.

Of course I'm going to forget which is which now, I think this is the Perth SCQ Retreat Signatures... or is it Bendigo?

Maybe this is Bendigo?? Lissa help me please...

This is the front of the quilt above... Love it!! The light behind gives it a different look .

Let me tell you a story...
We were many at the Blue Gum a couple of months ago, it was only days after the Bikie gangs were in the news so the sound of many motor bikes arriving at the Blue Gum was one to cause silence through the usually very noisey room... a couple of us got up to nervously peek out the window only to find it was one biker making one big noise.Same thing happened last Saturday but we were cool and didn't need to peek so continued our busy chatting, sewing, eating and showing when one big bloke strode into our room... he didn't do what most non SCQuilter people do when they come into our room, they usually back out quickly when they see a group of quilters sitting around sewing but not this bloke.
Dressed in leather pants and a tee shirt and with a very long grey plait halfway down his back... he noticed he had 7 pairs of eyes on him so reassured us that he was only checking on his bike. He looked out the window then turned around and said... 'Oh you're all sewing, making quilts, I love quilts!' We were silenced once again then he explained... 'I work in a Aged Care Unit and I see the ladies sewing and quilting, I love watching them, maybe I should ask them to make me a quilt!' We laughed and chatted a bit and said that he might get a very floral quilt to which he replied as he left our room... 'I like florals, there's nothing wrong with florals!'
To say were giggling by this stage is an understatement.
What a terrific bloke, if he's there again next time I'll ask him for a photo to show you all.

Didn't we have a loverrrly time the day we went to the Blue Gum! And what a wonderful Show and Tell!
Irene L... is making this quilt for the new born grandson of one of her neighbours, the grandson lives in New York and his parents have an apartment all decked out in white and neutral... gorgeous quilt isn't it but we all wonder how much longer the apartment will stay white!
Marilyn R... saw a quilt just like this one on a wall in New Zealand so she took many photos and spent the rest of her trip buying fabrics to go in her copy... then a neighbour gave her lime green fabric in the middle that she'd bought in South Africa. A very international quilt eh!
(Front) Lynette... is making this quilt for a friend at work, these photos won't show you the detail that's gone into it... it is truly a magical very tactile quilt.
(Back)
(Detail) each square you see on the front of this quilt is just like this one...but there's more...
Kate C... Enormous quilt that her son has snaffled for his bed.
Liz P... Cat block for she doesn't know who... but it was really the jumper I took the photo of, don't you just love it!
Lyn Wilson took the prize for the most number of quilts finished in one month... all for theAlzheimers Home in St Ives. Look at them all... 4 fractured 9 patch and one raggy.

Our Show and Tell for April is very different and varied... Enjoy!
Jan from Sylvania - Show and Tell from her recent trip on the Queen Mary 2, sailing from LA to Sydney. That's Jan in the white blouse. We saw many photos of many special evenings with the men in black tie and Jan in lots of very flash formal clothes borrowed from daughters and friends... very amusing it was. Heather from Eglinton near Bathurst was on the same trip as well as my baby brother Nick and his wife Kaye... somehow Nick didn't find the SCQuilters... I wonder how he missed them LOL

This doesn't happen very often so I just had to take a photo... Jan and Lisa enjoyed one of these EACH! We all ooohhhhed and aaaaahhhed! It put smiles on our faces that's for sure.

Heather from Thornleigh - I Spy for a niece or nephew, fabulous blocks aren't they.

Heather's Circle Blocks, we've seen some of them before but the one on top is just finished. I'm looking forward to seeing this quilt when all the blocks are done.

Pennie from Turramurra - Bonnie K Hunters Star Struck Quilt top. These quilt designs of Bonnie's are very rewarding to make because you can use up all sorts of scraps, my pile of blacks has now gone and are all in this quilt. Time consuming and a tad boring to make but... No fabric was freshly bought for this quilt! :-)

Lisa from Kareela - These blocks were crocheted while sitting on the sidelines, watching her children's sporting activities. Lisa has used up all sorts of scraps of wools, cottons and even bamboo.

Glenys from Berowra - I can't remember what this block is from but it's very WOW isn't it.

Erica from Parramatta - More of these wonderful hexagon stars. Erica has a brilliant idea about putting these blocks together... I for one can't wait to see them.

Cate from Cherrybrook - Hexagon blocks that she started before her first child was born, she now has two children :-) the oldest isn't three yet so that's not a long time for blocks is it! She has many many more that aren't in this photo so we might see a quilt yet.

Irene from Thornleigh - is always making some fascinating blocks.

Sarah from Como - has all her Double Delight blocks ready to put together.
Sarah from Como - Quilt as your go Log Cabin - I know a lot of you, like us are amazed to see the size of this quilt we all know Sarah for her miniatures don't we :-)
Back of Sarah's Log Cabin Quilt as you go.

Lyn from St Ives - Hexagon Star Quilt is moving along very nicely with only it's three points to be added.

Ros from Berowra - Double Wedding Ring Quilt for DS2's wedding has grown a lot since we last saw it.

Bec from Ryde - Star Quilt - Bec has to quilt two and a half stars every night to have this quilt ready for the Eastwood Patchwork Quilters 2009 Exhibition from May 1 - 3... Will she do it... that is the question! Come along and see if she makes it, click on the 'red' for more details.

Cath from Minchinbury - I Spy for a special child in her life.

Cath from Minchinbury - Star Quilt for her SIL... Cath needs one 8" square of the border fabric to finish it off. Do you know this fabric?
