The SCQuilters 'Blue Gum' Mystery Quilt Challenge - Step Nine and Final.

 Your Choice.
 
Choose whatever pattern, fabric and design you like.

This is the final step, so now you have to decide how to finish your quilt, you have 9 weeks and three days, that's 66 days,  or 1,584 hours or 95,040 minutes to finish your quilt for the big 'Show and Tell' Revelations on the 7th of December.   

Better get cracking!  But mostly... Enjoy!

There had to be hexagons didn't there, Hexagons have been the 'Elephant in the room'* and at last it's been outed.  Do a Google for some really amazing Hexagon Patterns.

* Explanation of the meaning 'Elephant in the Room'
 An important and obvious topic, which everyone present is aware of, but which isn't discussed, as such discussion is considered to be uncomfortable.

The SCQuilters 'Blue Gum' Mystery Quilt Challenge - Step Three!

 Paper Piecing.

Have you decided if you are making a 9 block Quilt?  or have you decided to make a Row by Row Quilt?  or maybe a Medallion Quilt... or have you decided to put all the Steps on one block?  

We've seen a couple of Step One blocks, lets hope there are more to see on Saturday the 6th at the Blue Gum... or you could send me photos.

So... Step Three is Paper Piecing... Check out THIS SITE, it has lots of paper piecing ideas, or there are plenty of other sites out there on Google.

A sneak preview of the Blue Gum Mystery Challenge.

 Our Blue Gum Mystery Challenge is underway... First Step is Applique and here we have two SCQuilters who have started the Challenge!  I know what I'm doing I just need to start :-)

Fascinating Applique from Ruth who bought this template years ago and decided it was perfect for her Challenge... fabulous shapes and fabrics, this is going to be a fascinating quilt.  Check out more of these Indigenous Inspired templates of Kim Bradley's HERE.

Diamonds.

Step Two is Diamonds, use any shaped blocks or Appliqued Diamonds, or a Diamond Pattern or Diamond Shapes on fabric or even Diamond Rings on fabric. There are some pretty diamonds on this site.

The SCQuilters 'Blue Gum' Mystery Quilt Challenge - Step One!

Applique.

Please read the 'Mystery Quilt Challenge' on the right of this post before joining this Challenge.


This first step will be what decides your Mystery Quilt see below for some hints.


Row by Row - you choose the size of each row to finish up with a quilt of 9 rows.
Medallion - start with a centrepiece and work around this, the centre can be 6" x 6" or 12" x 12" or  even 3" x 3"...  you decide.
Blocks - all the same size making a quilt 3 x 3 or different sizes and shapes giving a totally different look.
Themes - all Cats?  Flowers?  Australiana?  Oriental?  or all one fabric Designer?  or all Scrappy?
Level - if you aren't an experienced quilter this quilt will suit you but there again it might be the one quilt to take you outside your comfort zone for the first time. 
If you are an experienced quilter... we can't wait to see what you will come up with :-)
