04 April 2026

Great day at the Blue Gum for a little chatting and stitching.

Show and Tell

Selina had two (2) completed 'Plaidish' quilts for us to admire.

Emma sent me a photo of her beautifully completed Kawandi mini.

Next get together will be at the Blue Gum Hotel on Saturday 2 May 2026.

01 November 2025

Today was a little gloomy but brightened by our gathering at the Blue Gum.

Hand work

Emma was working on this cute hexagon. It's a coaster and will be part of a Christmas gift exchanger for another group she belongs to.

Selina was working away on her stars.

Cath with another one of her fabulous Patchwork of the Crosses blocks.

Rita with her beautiful large hexagons.

Irene was working on another scarf for charity, this one is lovely shade of blue cotton.

Show and Tell

Rita (1)

This pretty project was started with the left over pieces from another project. Just needed a few more hexagons and away we go.

Rita (2)

This is a quilt created from a panel for one of her Wolf clan nephews.

Rita (3)

Another quilt created with another wolf panel for a nephew.

Cath (1)

This pretty top was created with some of Cath's 'waste' triangles.

Cath (2)

This sweet top was also made with 'waste' triangles.

Cath (3)

This is little beauty is a wall hanging.

Our next gathering will be Saturday December 6 at the Blue Gum. Emma is organising a Christmas gift exchange on the day. For those who would like to participate please bring a small gift up to the value of $20. Emma has suggested a small hand made gift included in the bundle would be lovely.

The Blue Gum

Nasty day in Sydney but we had an animated day with 5 of us and plenty of show and tell.

First a quick catch up on Selina's ongoing hand pieced glorious project.

Next Selina has completed 3 tops as gifts. All with the same fabrics and based on the same quilt design but all a little different. One (1) for each of  her sisters and another as a gift for friends in Canada. The designs are based on the Communique Quilt design from Mouse in My Pocket

Next are a couple of quilts from Rita for the Hope in a Suitcase organisation.

Lastly from Glynis. A completed quilt and a couple of tops.

This stack n'whack quilt has been waiting for years for the 'right' binding fabric to come along.

The Blue Gum

First a woven bag made of t-shirt yarn by one of Rita's daughters. Very clever!

Next are four (4) of Selina's completed quilt tops. Selina has been busy experimenting with techniques plus creating with scraps and orphans.

Selina has used a tutorial from The Questioning Quilter for the first 2 examples and I think it's the Disappearing Pinwheel. Please let me know Selina if this isn't the correct tutorial!

Is the Plaidish Quilt from The Kitchen Table Quilter. It is a free pattern available here https://kitchentablequilting.com/products/plaid-ish-scrap-quilt-tutorial I've had this one on my to do list for some time.

No 4 is comprised of some blocks not used in a previous project and put together for perhaps a wall hanging.

Cath has almost completed this sweet little project - no 1

Cath no 2 is a block in progress with a lot of fussy cutting. Was a project started in a workshop with Chris Jurd. More of these beauties to come.

Next get together at the Blue Gum will be Saturday 5 July 2025. We look forward to seeing you then.
