08 March 2015

Saturday at the Pub is always fun, always loud and always wonderfully inspiring with lots of beautiful people, lots of handwork to do and lots of chat!

(You will have to excuse the photos this month, I dropped my camera in the pool and it was un-fixable... so I'm using my iPad)

First up for this month are photos of our 2014 Blue Gum Challenge
 - Churn Dash -
 which was chosen by Brenda.

Here's Brenda's work... looking really lovely and very interesting.

Christine's was fabulous and so different and fun... I love it!  I really love it!

And now we have Glynis... who's challenge is stunning and I'm loving what she's thinking of doing with her blocks below as well.

The thing I love about our Challenges at the Pub is that not only are they not compulsory but you can bring along one of your wonderful old quilts that you made years ago... just like Irene did with this pretty little quilt above.

... and just as Annie did below.  Annie had to get this beaut quilt off her son's bed  :-)

Now Lissa was very clever, she used some orphan Dresden Plate blocks and placed her little Churn Dash blocks around them... I'm very impressed Lissa :-)

Maggie finished her block yesterday... she was hard at it doing all that hand sewing but was a little disappointed that a couple of corners didn't quite match up... don't worry Maggie, check out my mess below  :-)

I was trying to be a clever clogs (what a weird saying that is!)  Brenda gave me 3 1/2 inch templates to make my challenge, but I, thinking I'm a cleverer than the average bear... decided to make even smaller blocks by marking the fabric inside the templates so making 1 1/2 inch blocks!  What a mess!
'Clever Clogs'

Noun

clever clogs (plural not attested)
  1. (slang) Somebody who is rather too clever; a smart aleck.

Lissa set the 2015 Blue Gum Challenge...
 'Four Patch'
to be revealed on the first Saturday of March 2016.

Food Glorious Food.

This is the only food photo I took yesterday... I was too busy enjoying my own Pizza to take photo of others delicious food.

SCQuilters, SCQuilters and yet more SCQuilters... but I did manage to miss a few unfortunately.

Annie and Becky, love your blouses...

Okay so Christine did come all the way from Bathurst (197 Km's) this weekend and she was going home on the train after the Pub so maybe this is why she was playing up on me while I was trying to take her photo... Brenda behaved beautifully though didn't she :-)
Christine.... LOL!
That's better... much more beautifuler!

Heather and Jackie... lovely to see you again Jackie, it's been a while.

Heather, once again and Robyn... loving your blouses as well.

I don't know who took this photo below, I know I don't use my iPad for taking photos very often but???
Luckily I got a better photo above... or is it better???   Lissa and Maggie.

Liz and Lynne...  Liz was looking very glamorous yesterday :-)

Pennie (me) with our expectant Mother...  only two months to go and Claire is looking so well and fit and healthy.  Yay!

I get around don't I... this time with Lisa.

Penny and Erica... these blouses I really like as well  :-)

Now these two gave me some trouble... come on guys I'm using my iPad, it's not as easy to use as my poor little drowned camera was...
That's a bit better... but the question is... is Glynis ever going to look at me??
The answer to that question... was NO!  :-)

Finally the very beautiful...  Irene and Stephanie!

Handwork, lots and lots of wonderful handwork.

Annie is knitting a shawl with this beautiful wool.

Becky is knitting and knitting little wash cloths to sell at her Church Stall, they are perfect for the kitchen and getting into those difficult places, hope they sell well Becky.

Claire is making some more magical blocks... she got two done today.

I'm loving what Erica is making here, the fabrics are great as well... stay tuned for further developments. (not a good photo is it, sorry.)

Glynis is onto something rather special here... she was actually reverse sewing but I can't tell where or why really I think it's stunning!

Irene is quilting these beautiful little Gumnut Babies for some lucky child.

Wonderful Double Wedding Ring made and being hand quilted by Jackie.

Jenn will be teaching a class soon, on how to make this amazing quilt.

Wow... beautiful stitching by Lisa.

... check out just how much stitchery Liz has done since last month... Wow!  Looking great Liz.

And I'm loving Lynne's work, what fun it looks.

I'm still quilting, quilting and quilting away on this genuine 1930 hexagon quilt... I've been at it for more than 10 years now... I just get so bored with it but I think I received enough encouragement yesterday...  to get really going on it again!!!!  I hope so I'd love to see it finished.

Beautiful block by Penny... now maybe this could be my next project... when I finish quilting my hexagon maybe  :-)

Rita is making bunting and adding lots and lots of wonderful little nic's and nac's below... I meant to get another photo of what she had done before she left the pub... bring it along next month please Rita.

Isn't this beautiful, it feels lovely as well!  Ruth is using two different balls of wool and alternating them when she's happy with the way the colours are going.

Selina was binding, binding, binding... she bought everything she needed except needle and thread... not a problem at our Pub on the first Saturday of each month though, there were plenty of friends to share theirs  :-)

I'm loving the layout of these Hexies!  Looking great Stephanie.

Finally a bit more Show and Tell.

Three beautiful Crochet blankets... top one done by Annie...
This one was made by Becky, check out the lovely border below.

And this third beautiful crochet blanket... made by Stephanie.

Marilyn has done a wonderful job with her Bonnie K Hunter 'Grand Illusion' blocks... I really like them in this setting.

One of Claire's pretty pink blocks.
Here are more of Claire's blocks... they're going to make a lovely quilt aren't they.

Penny and Liz showing us more of Penny's fascinating blocks.
I wonder how Penny is going to put these beaut blocks together...  lovely fussy cutting and patterns.

Penny's first Raggy Quilt for one of her grand daughters... so pretty and cuddly.

Somebody made this lovely little dilly bag... but who???

Here is the quilt Selina was binding, looks like she finished!  Well done Selina... I love the way you've used a layer cake selection of fabrics, looks relatively simple but really interesting.

Another couple of Wow!  Wow!  Wow! works of art by Liz... my she's been busy in the past month.
... I didn't see that spider until I put this photo up on this blog... I hope it didn't get there through my iPad, I hope Liz knows it's there.

Check out this Wow!  Wow!  Wow!  Quilt made and quilted by Jackie on her long arm machine...

And below from last month...  Jill made this very useful bag for all sorts of sewing implements!
